The Quittapahilla Audubon Society invites all to come out on Sunday at 9am for a guided walk of the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail, with a focus on local birdwatching. Meet at the Expo Center by the soccer fields.

Jim Fiorentino, president of the society, will lead the walk. The society tries to host events once or twice a month. If you can’t make it this weekend, the group will be hosting another similar event in January.

What will you see?

“The winter migrants, probably white-throated sparrows, some juncos, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, bunch of different woodpeckers, red-tailed hawks, and generally stuff like that,” explained Fiorentino.

“Once and a while we’ll get some different birds like a yellow-rumped warbler or a Coopers hawk,” said Fiorentino. “We’ve also seen bald eagles flying back and forth from Middlecreek.”

The walk is about 2 miles roundtrip, lasting about 2 hours average. Fiorentino and others will be glad to answer questions and point out interesting sights.
