A new Lebanon Transit route will connect downtown Lebanon to a cluster of warehouses in Jonestown.
The Route 10 Old Forge Express begins service Monday, March 11. See map and full schedule below. This is the first route the transit authority has connecting northern Lebanon County and the City of Lebanon.
Northern Lebanon County has seen significant growth in recent years due to a national logistics boom and its location at the junction of Interstate 81 and Interstate 78. The route will connect Lebanon to the new Gateway Logistics Park area and adjacent Mastronardi Produce facility.
Service will cost $2.25 each way, with discounts available for 10 Ride and 31 Day Commuter passes (available for purchase at the LT Transfer Station and at the LT Main Office).
The route was created with the cooperation of three major employers in the Jonestown area (that all have additional jobs posted for currently) – Mattel, Mastronardi Produce, and VF Corporation. Mattel occupies the biggest warehouse on the site, a 1 million SF facility expected to create 400 jobs in total.
Update 3/7: We have a little more info about the “cooperation” with the Jonestown warehouses, thanks to Lebanon Transit, which clarified there is no monetary support the new route, just internal promotion and coordination with internal hiring agencies.
What is meant by this?
“The route was created with the cooperation of three major employers.”
Good question, I’m looking into it.
I’ve updated the post to clarify the cooperation: No monetary support, just internal promotion and coordination with internal hiring agencies. Thanks for asking!
They need to go 5 more minutes to Ingram Micro and MSC as well!
