The 26th Bucktail Reunion took place in Myerstown this past weekend commemorating the regiment of Pennsylvania rifleman formed during the Civil War known as “The Bucktails.

The Bucktails were recognized by the buck-tail attached to their hats; a symbol of pride and marksmanship. To remember these soldiers, a group of “Bucktails” now set up a camp each year to honor the historic regiment.

This year’s encampment took place at Myerstown Community Park.

The weekend full of events was capped off Sunday morning by a march from Mt. Hope Cemetery to Union Cemetery, where Bucktails assembled at the grave of Civil War hero Henry Brehm.

Brehm served as a Sergeant in Company C of the 149th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and he died August 9, 1863, as a result of wounds incurred during the Battle of Gettysburg.
