Designed to pay tribute to Central Pennsylvanian Veterans, the Mount Gretna Theatre’s newest show combines a wide variety of music and history.

From August 22 to 25, Gretna Theatre is hosting the USO Show Troupe, which will perform its American Heartland Tribute.

On Thursday, the show will begin at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. Both Friday and Saturday’s performances are at 7:30pm, while Sunday’s matinee is at 2:00pm.

Ticket costs range from $36 to $39, but active service members and veterans receive a $5 discount.

A block of free tickets has been given to service members at Fort Indiantown Gap and the Lebanon VA Hospital.

First started during World War II, the USO Show Troupe is an organization that travels the world and performs for service members and their families. The Troupe performs a wide range of music, from “America, the Beautiful” to “Born in the USA.”

The 90-minute show has been specialized to the region, as the Mount Gretna Historical Society worked with the USO to customize it to Mount Gretna’s military history.

That history ranged from Mount Gretna’s first military occupancy in 1885 to 1935, when the National Guard encampment moved to its current Fort Indiantown Gap location.

“With Gretna’s unique ties to military history, we decided it was time to bring them directly into our own home as a gift to the substantial veteran population in Lebanon,” said Executive Producer for Gretna Theatre Brian Kurtas.
