A Lebanon man robbed a Turkey Hill on the north side of the City of Lebanon last night, but was unable to evade arrest for very long.

According to City of Lebanon police, the incident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning when a man flashed a black handgun—later found to be a BB gun that closely resembles a real handgun—at a clerk inside the Turkey Hill located at 1201 Maple Street and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The cashier was not injured in the incident, but the man was able to flee the scene with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police set up a perimeter and located a person matching the description provided by the victim. 33-year-old Lebanon resident Jose Rivera-Barbosa was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, with police noting that currency and other items were located on his person and nearby where he was found. The “handgun” was also recovered.

According to court documents, Rivera-Barbosa now faces a first-degree felony charge of robbery, along with second-degree misdemeanors for simple assault and theft. Rivera-Barbosa was remanded to Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of posting bail, set at $75,000.

North Lebanon Township Police Department assisted in the arrest.
