Break out the hot cocoa, bundle up, and book it down to December First Friday: the itinerary for the evening is chock-full of events you won’t want to miss.
The final First Friday of 2019 will feature local art, live performances, and holiday-flavored festivities on Dec. 6 at Mt. Gretna and Downtown Lebanon.
If you’re hoping to fully indulge in the spirit of the season, you might want to be downtown early on: Horse-led carriages will depart the farmers market at 5:00 p.m. and tout passengers around the business corridor until 7:30 p.m. The carriage rides are hosted by Community of Lebanon Association. Tickets are available for purchase here.

From your horse and buggy, you’ll be able to scope the holiday window dressings at the 21 businesses participating in Downtown Lebanon’s Holiday Display competition. Make sure to circle your favorite before casting your vote. Download the holiday display map here, and don’t forget to pick up your ballot at Visit Lebanon Valley.
There’s a ton of local talent to enjoy at any of art shows happening during this month’s Art Walk, organized by Lebanon Valley Council of the Arts downtown from 5:00-10:00 p.m. as well as in Mt. Gretna from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Lebanon Valley Council of the Arts this month will feature paintings by self-described “realistic watercolorist” Elaine Martin. Martin will be performing a musical accompaniment during the exhibit.
Also featured in the Art Walk this month is oil painter Chi Vu, whose work will be on display at Trinity United Methodist. Vu’s work often focuses on a select psalm, with the lines of the passage depicted in the painting.
If video is more your speed, make sure to catch the We Are Lebanon exhibit, also at the Art Council. The series from filmmaker Erik Soulliard features short profiles of everyday residents whose stories defy big city condescension.

Cider enthusiasts will want to take part in the first in-house cider tasting at Under the Bridge. The cidery’s event will feature “exclusive tastings and growler fills only.” Guests can take home a growler of their favorite cider. For more info, visit Under the Bridge on Facebook.
Keep in mind that some events will begin earlier in the day, with a handful continuing into the evening.
