Bell & Evans returns to Harrisburg this weekend for another delicious appearance at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

The company, which wowed Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf last January with its new gluten-free breaded chicken sandwich, will be debuting a few additions for this year’s nine-day food court residency.

In October, the Fredericksburg-based chicken producer released a new line of chicken meatballs. Now, Bell & Evans will offer them at the 104th Pennsylvania Farm Show Jan. 4-11.

Specifically, Bell & Evans will offer their Parmesan Breaded Chicken Meatballs, one of three varieties released in October. Not available at the farm show will be Bell & Evans’ new Buffalo Seasoned and Chicken Meatball products.

The meatballs will be available in the Giant Expo Hall at the PennAg Industries food booth, served either in a meatball sub with marinara sauce or as a four-piece menu item.

The Parmesan Breaded Chicken Meatballs contain mozzarella cheese, garlic and Italian seasonings, and a Parmesan breading.

They will be offered alongside other popular Bell & Evans products, including chicken tenders, breaded chicken breast sandwiches, roasted chicken sandwiches, and more.

This year, Bell & Evans will also be baking their chicken products instead of frying them. They are switching from oil fryers to Vector Multi-Cook Ovens, something they consider a healthy change.

“Our friends at PennAg Industries did a great job of representing our products at last year’s Farm Show, and we saw an opportunity to improve quality with these new air fryer-style ovens,” said Bell & Evans Owner Scott Sechler in a press release. “We’re really excited about our new chicken meatballs and can’t wait to debut them in our own backyard at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.”

This year, Bell & Evans will also be running the Farm Show’s annual Chick Hatch. The company’s portable hatchery is modeled after its Fredericksburg hatchery: an organic certified, animal-welfare-focused facility. The hatchery will be located near the Lancaster Farming Stage in the Giant Expo Hall.

The hatchery setup will provide newly hatched chicks with immediate access to food and water. Typically, chicks only receive these things once they have all hatched and been transported to the farm, which can be dangerous for chicks that hatch early.

“When we were invited to sponsor the chick hatch, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to give our local community a glimpse inside our Hatchery, the most humane model in the world,” said Executive Vice President and fifth-generation Bell & Evans Owner Margo Sechler in a press release. “We made a big investment to produce this portable hatching unit, but since biosecurity prevents us from touring groups through our Hatchery, this is the next best way to educate and offer additional transparency into our operations.”

Interested in trying the chicken meatballs or watching the Chick Hatch at the Farm Show? It will take place at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Open Jan. 4-11, admission is free and parking is $15.

This year’s theme is “Imagine the Opportunities.” Check out the event’s Facebook page for more information.
