Lebanon police took a local man into custody this week and charged him following an alleged crime spree.

Ramon Luis Nevarez-Montanez was arrested Tuesday for a series of incidents which Lebanon City Police said began on Saturday, March 7, at 5:50 p.m. on the 100 block of S. 8th Street.

Police said that Nevarez entered the Turkey Hill at 102 S. 8th Street on Saturday and demanded the clerk open the register, while threatening the clerk with a knife. Nevarez was said to have been successful in taking money from the drawer, as well as grabbing cartons of cigarettes, before fleeing. The clerk was said to have not been injured.

A second robbery was said to have occurred Monday around 9:00 a.m. on the 700 block of Quentin Road when Nevarez entered a store at 720 Quentin Road (the specific store was not identified) and held a knife to the neck of an employee, who police said suffered a minor injury as a result. Nevarez was said to have been successful in obtaining cash from a safe in the business.

Nevarez’s arrest occurred on Tuesday, March 10, at 10:15 a.m. on the 100 block of N. Gannon Street. According to the release, police approached Nevarez advising of his arrest when he attempted to flee and fell to the ground in the process. He was taken into custody following a struggle with officers and is accused of possessing drug paraphernalia during the arrest.

Nevarez was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Anthony Verna and incarcerated at Lebanon County Correction Facility unable to meet a combined bail of $225,000. He faces one first degree felony charge of robbery, two second degree felony charges of robbery and aggravated assault, and two misdemeanors for possessing drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

Nevarez’s next scheduled court appearance is a preliminary hearing on March 19 at 8:00 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Maria M. Dissinger.

The Lebanon City Police Department thanked the Lebanon County Drug Task Force for assistance during the investigation.
