Lebanon Valley College president Lewis E. Thayne announced Friday that classes would be held remotely through the remainder of the spring semester.

There will also not be a traditional commencement ceremony on May 9 as originally scheduled. LVC is currently exploring alternative plans for this year’s graduates.

The announcement expands previously announced plans for the college to be online only through April 9.

“We are definitely going to get through this crisis,” said Thayne in the email to students. “This is a moment in time and, for all of us, an invitation to demonstrate compassion and kindness toward one another, to retain our optimism while being realistic.”

Students will not be charged room and board for days the residence hall and dining facilities are closed and student accounts will receive pro-rated refunds.
