WellSpan Health will reduce executive compensation for the next three months to fund a new COVID-19 Assistance Program.

The healthcare system announced the salary reductions in a press release Monday, May 11. The reductions are effective this month.

WellSpan President and CEO Dr. Roxanna Gapstur will have her salary reduced by 25 percent over that period.

All other executive-level positions—executive vice presidents, senior vice presidents, and vice presidents—will have their salaries reduced by 10 percent.

The COVID-19 Assistance Program will support WellSpan Health employees who have faced financial difficulty because of the pandemic. The program will help cover housing and utility costs and other urgent bills.

“COVID-19 is more than just a public health crisis; it’s also a financial crisis for millions of Americans,” said Gapstur in the release. “As central Pennsylvania’s largest private employer, we know our team members are not immune from the financial impacts of this pandemic.”

“Our executive team is doing its part to support our organization and our 20,000 team members during this trying time. We are in this together, and we’ll get through this together.”
