Lebanon County resident and filmmaker David Vincent Bobb recently released his film, “Right Before Your Eyes,” on numerous streaming platforms.
The film was released in September 2019 and is based on Bobb’s life story involving overcoming addiction and coming home to be with his autistic son.
“In the film, we follow a recovering addict/alcoholic, starring Adam Ratcliffe as ‘Ethan’, as he takes a train ride home to visit his young Autistic son, starring Sean Patrick McCurdy as ‘Lucas’,” Bobb said. “On the train, Ethan meets a stranger, starring Brian Anthony Wilson as ‘Ambrose’ and shares his life story with him.”
The platforms the film can currently be viewed on include:
- Amazon Prime Video
- Blue Ridge Cable
- Comcast/Xfinity Cable
- DirectTV
- Spectrum Cable
- RCN Cable
- ISO/Midcontinent Cable
- Cox Cable
- United Kingdom, TVOD
“There are many more platforms to come in the near future,” Bobb said. “The distributor is currently in discussions with platforms such as Walmart, 24 Flix, and Pure Flix, just to name a few. Starting on December 22, we will be released to 63 English Speaking Countries throughout the world.”
Before the release of the film on major platforms, Bobb went on the road during the fall of 2019 for a theatrical run to various cities throughout Pennsylvania.
“I traveled all over the state of Pennsylvania from as far east as Philadelphia to as far west as Pittsburgh promoting the film with my Associate Producer, Ian Bonner,” Bobb said. “The film premiered in eight theatres in Pennsylvania and one in Wisconsin and ran for several weeks. We also had a red carpet premiere at The Allen Theatre in Annville, Pa.”
The film was shot in 2017 and 2018 in locations around the Midstate. The locations include Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Camp Hill, The Colebrookdale Railroad in Boyertown, and a few locations in New Jersey. Most of the cast is from the Philadelphia and New Jersey area, as well as many background actors from a local casting call in Annville.
“Our distributor, Green Apple Entertainment has been doing a really fantastic job to seal the deal with as many platforms as they possibly can,” Bobb said. “I also have a few producers helping out with marketing the film. I have my Associate Producer Ian Bonner working diligently to set me up with TV, radio, and newspaper interviews, and Producer Juvencio ‘JV’ Gonzalez, sending out mass emails to some very important dignitaries throughout the USA and the world. I can’t thank those guys enough for all of the help they’ve given me.”
In the spring of 2020, Bobb was planning to go back out on the road to visit additional venues, and then the pandemic began. Instead of touring, he decided to put his efforts towards getting the film out on streaming platforms.
“I really love personally being there at live screenings and having questions and answers with the audience after the show ends,” Bobb said. “I had a 19 year-old heroin addict come up to me one time after a screening in Wilkes-Barre. He was crying and gave me a huge hug. He told me he saw himself up on the screen and that the film really inspired him and motivated him to continue on his road to recovery. There is no feeling better than that in the entire world.”
If touring is able to happen for Bobb in 2021, he said it would most likely be a church tour. A church tour was started right before COVID-19 first hit and it was a success.
“I periodically go back to the Bethesda Mission, where I started my recovery journey, when time permits to show the film for free to the guys there,” Bobb said. “We take pictures together, I give them mini movie posters, and we talk about sobriety and the importance of Christ in all of our lives. It’s such a rewarding experience, I really love doing it.”
“The fact that the film has a potential to reach millions of households has me bursting at the seams,” Bobb said. “Knowing that this film that was written out of love for my disabled son and to inspire and give hope to the sick and suffering, and knowing I have the chance to do that on a worldwide stage is beyond anything I could have ever dreamed.”
All viewing platforms and additional information can be found on the film’s website.
