The Lebanon VA Medical Center has selected Dr. Jaconda Lightburn as the new associate director/chief operating officer. She began on Jan. 17.
Lightburn started her VA career as the chief of safety, and green environmental management system manager at the Charleston VA Medical Center. Lightburn most recently worked as the assistant medical center director at the Veterans Health System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She also previously worked as acting assistant director at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center and acting assistant/associate director at the Charleston VA Medical Center, South Carolina.
“I am excited Dr. Lightburn chose to join our leadership team and serve Veterans in south central Pennsylvania,” Robert W. Callahan, Jr. Director and CEO, Lebanon VA Medical Center, said. “Dr. Lightburn brings a great wealth of experience and talent spanning military service, academic, research, along with state and federal service. In her VA career, she sought out challenging and upwardly mobile assignments which broadened her leadership acumen. Dr. Lightburn will be an asset to help lead our organization.“
Lightburn obtained her doctorate in health administration from Medical University of South Carolina and Master of Science in environmental pollution control from Pennsylvania State University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in vocational education and two associate degrees.
In addition, she is a graduate of VA’s Healthcare Leadership Development Program, USA Executive Potential Program and VA certified Mentor program, as well as a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Lightburn dedicated over 24 years of service and is now a retired veteran.
“Dr. Lightburn’s 24 years of military service immediately gives her credibility with other Veterans – she’s been in their shoes and knows their experience, not because she read about them in a book but because she shares the same experience, sacrifices and values,” Douglas Etter, Chief Communication Officer, Lebanon VA Medical Center and combat Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, said. “Her commitment and loyalty to the nation, public service and her fellow Veterans is inspiring to me.”
