Artistic Edge Salon celebrated styling the Lebanon and Myerstown community for twenty years on Jan. 9.

While COVID-19 did not allow for a party with employees and customers, Artistic Edge Salon offered several deals on services and products throughout the month of January to commemorate the milestone. Additionally, the salon gave away $20 gift cards each week through Facebook. In the salon hangs a decorative photo backdrop reading “Cheers to 20 years” to add some sparkle.

“We kind of just celebrate in here everyday,” Lori Walkowiak, owner of Artistic Edge Salon, said.

After going to beauty school in 1985 and working for a few other salons, Walkowiak opened her own business on Jan. 9 of 2001 in Lebanon. The business moved to Myerstown in June of 2006. When interviewed, Walkowiak expressed how serving the local community for twenty years has rewarded her.

“20 years is a long time to be in business and I have met a lot of people and I have been part of their lives,” Walkowiak said. “Some of my guests in the community I have known since they were little kids. I’ve watched them graduate and get married and have children. It’s a very rewarding career that I have chosen.”

Walkowiak expressed gratitude for not only her relationships with customers but her employees as well. She approximated that about 60 employees have worked at Artistic Edge Salon throughout the years. Before an employee works independently, Walkowiak trains them over a period of about six months.

“I now have become a mentor to young stylists,” Walkowiak said. “Watching them achieve success is probably my greatest reward.”

Over its twenty years of business, Artistic Edge Salon has witnessed many beauty trends come and go, impacting the services it has provided.

“Fashion is always going to be changing and moving,” Walkowiak said. “That’s kind of just what fashion is and that’s kind of the same thing with hair. Things are always changing. You’re always seeing new services pop up. Some hang around, some of them go away. That’s what makes this business exciting.”

Walkowiak feels that the past 20 years have overall given her much to be thankful for.

“I am extremely grateful for the 20 years I’ve had of business in Lebanon county,” Walkowiak said. “I am extremely grateful to the customers and the guests over the years. I am grateful for all the employees that have come here and taught me how to be a better leader. My girls, not only do I teach them, but they teach me.”

Artistic Edge Salon is located at 9 East Lincoln Avenue in Myerstown. Customers can book appointments online or by calling 717-866-1775.
