On March 18, five local students were recognized by the Lebanon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The annual awards ceremony was held at Zion Lutheran Church.

This year’s recipients are: Brittany Nye, daughter of Scott and Angela Nye, from Annville-Cleona Secondary School; Cole Pennington, grandson of Stephanie Seldomridge, from Cedar Crest High School; Georgia Martin, daughter of Leevon and Jenn Martin, from Eastern Lebanon County High School; Jocelyn Mertz, daughter of Deidre Mertz and Jeremy Mertz, from Northern Lebanon High School; and Grace Zellers, daughter of Sarah Zellers, from Palmyra Area High School.

Georgia Martin also received the DAR Youth Citizen Award for her work in 2020 with Wreaths Across America at the Covenant Greenwood Cemetery, Ebenezer.

The students won an official DAR certificate, Good Citizen pin, and a monetary prize, and they shared about their future plans and current community, church, and social involvement.

DAR Good Citizens are chosen by their high schools based on the four qualities that distinguish DAR Good Citizens: dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
