The South Londonderry Township Police will host three “Stop the Bleed” training sessions for township residents in the South Londonderry Township Municipal Building’s (27 W. Market St.) community classroom. The free sessions will be held May 12 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., May 13 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., and May 14 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
“Stop the Bleed” is a federal initiative launched in 2015 designed to educate bystanders of traumatic incidents on how to respond to uncontrolled bleeding before professional medical help arrives. Participants in the course learn how to identify life-threatening bleeding and how to perform several techniques to control bleeding.
The initiative’s focus is on early intervention, giving ordinary people the tools to help out in a crisis situation.
South Londonderry Township residents can reserve a seat by emailing Patrolman Jared Zimmerman at jzimmerman@southlondonderry.org. There are only eight seats per session.
People who are interested in the training but unable to attend one of these timeslots are asked to email indicating interest so the department can schedule more course dates.
