Farming demonstrations, heirloom gardens and mansion tours are among the attractions planned for Historic Schaefferstown’s Cherry Fair and Early American Craft Show on Saturday, June 26.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Historic Alexander Schaeffer Farm, 213 S. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown.
Entertainment is by Jay Smar, providing acoustic traditional folk music on guitar, banjo and fiddle, with vocals and flat-foot dancing, and the Holt Twins & Charmaine, who offer “entrancing harmonies and a multitude of instruments,” according to promotional materials for the event.
Also included at the fair are period crafters, colonial and farming demonstrations, heirloom garden tours, sawmill and blacksmith shop demonstrations, cherry sweets, food, games and a tour of the Schaeffer House.

For the first time, the new owners of the Weigley/Hand Mansion, aka Heidelberg Hall, 1373 Heidelberg Ave., will open the Second Empire residence for tours at 10 and 10:30 a.m. and 2 and 2:30 p.m. Completed in 1883, the mansion contains a Gilded Age collection of furniture, art, porcelain, sculpture and other items.
Tours also will be offered of the Abraham Rex apartment over the Old Rex Umberger Store at 101 S. Market St. Tours are at noon, 12:30 4 and 4:30 p.m. and include viewing a collection of 18th- and early 19th-century antiques.
Tickets for the mansion tour are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, veterans and children, and for the apartment tour are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, veterans and children.
