Lebanon will host its annual Fourth of July fireworks display on Sunday, July 4, at Coleman Memorial Park with some – but not all – of its pandemic-related restrictions lifted.
Fireworks will begin at approximately 9 p.m. Rain date is Monday, July 5.
The free event was scaled back in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year, the public will again be allowed to gather in the park to enjoy the display.
City of Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello said last year that the event typically draws about 1,500 individuals to the park, which was not compatible with social distancing guidelines that were in place last summer.
Not everything will be back to normal, however.
According to Capello, the Lebanon Community Concert Band “was not gathering and was not able to prepare for a concert.” She said she hopes the music portion of the holiday event will return in 2022.
The display will be provided by Fantastic Fireworks of Maryland Line, Md.
No bikes will be allowed in the parking area near the ballfields after 5 p.m. on the day of the display, and dogs will not be permitted in the spectator area. Sparklers, private fireworks and alcohol are also prohibited in the park.
Lebanon School District will open the parking lot at Northwest Elementary School for spectators, but said only spectators – not their vehicles – will be allowed on the lot.
Fireworks are funded in part by donations from the community.
