Lebanon County’s local congressman, Dan Meuser (R-9), paid a visit to Cornwall’s PRL Industries, a longtime supplier of cast steel parts to the U.S. Navy, on Tuesday morning, Aug. 10.

Meuser, accompanied by PRL’s President and CEO, retired Vice Admiral John Morgan, received a briefing from company executives on the production of the ultra-high quality, precision stainless steel castings that leave PRL’s facility and end up in nuclear submarines.

Morgan told the congressman that PRL is one of only two foundries in the United States that make certain types of high quality castings for the Navy’s undersea fleet.

After touring the plant, Meuser spoke to its employees and thanked them for their contribution to the country’s defense effort.

“When we’re in Washington,” he told them, “things can get a little theoretical. It’s always great to get out and see the real companies and the real people who do the hard work.”

PRL was founded in 1969 as “Pennsylvania Radiographic Laboratories” by Benjamin Chase. It was purchased by Erwin Hershkowitz in 1972 and remained in the family until its 2020 purchase by aerospace and defense company Compass Partners.
