Lebanon County public school districts recently released their 2021-22 health and safety plans, which detail coronavirus mitigation procedures for the upcoming school year.
In the absence of some state mandates, school districts have been given a new measure of local control over their approach to COVID-19. Below are the school board-approved plans for the new year.
Annville-Cleona
- Masks will be encouraged, but will be optional for students and staff, regardless of vaccination status. The exception will be on school buses, where masks are required per a federal mandate.
- Sanitizing, disinfecting, and hand washing will continue.
- Social distancing in classrooms and the cafeteria will occur to the greatest extent possible for five-day in-person education.

Cornwall-Lebanon
- Masks will be optional for staff and students, and will be available upon request. Individuals must wear masks on buses, per the federal mandate.
- Plexiglass barriers will remain in place in the main office, and movable barriers will be utilized in classrooms.
- Some tables in the cafeterias will be spaced six feet apart so students may social distance, if they prefer.
- Hand sanitizing and cleaning will continue.

ELCO
- Masks will be optional for staff and students, with the exception of buses where masks must be worn, per the federal mandate. Masks are available upon request.
- Plexiglass barriers will remain in place in the main office and movable barriers will be utilized in classrooms.
- Some tables in the cafeterias will be spaced six feet apart so students may social distance, if they prefer.
- Hand sanitizing and cleaning will continue.

Lebanon City
- Staff and students will not be required to wear a mask or be vaccinated. Masks must be worn on school buses.
- Staff and students may wear masks if they choose to do so, but it will not be required.

Northern Lebanon
- Masks will not be mandatory for staff or students, but guidelines will be continually monitored.
- Students will socially distance when possible to three feet.
- Handwashing and disinfecting will continue.

Palmyra Area
- Masks may be worn by staff and students on a voluntary basis. However, they are mandatory on school buses.
- High contact areas will maintain sneeze guards and social distancing will occur in classrooms when possible.
