A Lebanon man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting Wednesday evening in the city.

Lebanon City police announced Friday morning the arrest of Wensly Morales-Rodriguez, who was charged with criminal homicide for the death of Josue Miguel Rivera.

Rivera, a 30-year-old Lebanon man, was found by police Wednesday, Sept. 1, shortly after 9 p.m. on the 800 block of Crowell Street, where they had been called in response to a report of a subject struck by gunfire.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lebanon County coroner’s office, according to the police release.

Police said they learned during an investigation that the suspect had fled the scene. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and subsequently 23-year-old Morales-Rodriguez turned himself into city police at their 400 S. 8th St. headquarters.

Court documents show that Morales-Rodriguez was arraigned Thursday in front of Magisterial District Judge John W. Ditzler over charges of first-degree felony criminal homicide; third-degree felony flight to avoid apprehension; and misdemeanor offenses. Bail was denied for Morales-Rodriguez, who is being held at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility.

Police said that the subjects involved were known to each other and that this was not a random incident. According to the release, expended shell casings were recovered from the scene, as well as video surveillance from the surrounding area.

The public is asked to contact Lebanon City police at 717-272-2054 or Crime Stoppers at 717-270-9800 with any information pertaining to this incident. Tips can be made anonymously.
