Bethel Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 12, 2021 at 5:44 a.m., this single-vehicle crash occurred on Mount Zion Rd., just south of its intersection with Prescott Dr. in Bethel Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2002 Acura RSX, driven by Operator 1, a 24 year old Lebanon man, was traveling north on Mount Zion Rd., when Operator 1 swerved to miss a deer that was crossing the roadway. Operator 1 subsequently lost control of Unit 1, which struck an embankment and overturned onto its roof, before coming to final rest in the roadway. Unit 1 sustained disabling damage due to the rollover. Unit 1 was towed from the scene by Blatt and Tillet Towing Company. Operator 1 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 1 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash and refused medical transport. Operator 1 was cited for Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked.

Cornwall Borough

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 10, 2021 at 10:18 p.m., this crash occurred on SR 117 and Pennsylvania Ave. Operator 1, a Mt. Gretna resident, was traveling north on SR 117 when he failed to negotiate a bend in the road. Unit 1 then traveled off of the road and struck multiple trees. Unit 1 was towed from the scene.

Jackson Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 13, 2021 at 4:02 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Operator 1, a 17 year old Newmanstown female, was traveling north on South College St. Operator 1 fell asleep while driving, causing Unit 1 to veer off of the roadway via the east shoulder, where it struck a Verizon utility pole (#VZ69). Upon impact, Unit 1 continued in a north direction, where it then hit a traffic sign and a fence, before coming to its position of final rest, where tertiary impact occurred. Unit 1 sustained damage to the front-end. Operator 1 was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 1 sustained suspected minor injuries as a result of this crash and was transported via the Myerstown First Aid Unit to the Hershey Medical Center for further evaluation. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by Trooper Price, Myerstown First Aid Unit, Keystone Hook & Ladder Co., Lebanon County Fire Police, and Leffler’s Towing. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

Millcreek Township

Fatal Accident – On Sept. 14, 2021 at 5:54 p.m., this crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2021 BMW R1250 motorcycle, driven by Operator 1, a 62 year old Newmanstown man, was traveling southbound on Richland Rd. in the area of the 100 block of Richland Rd. Unit 1 failed to properly negotiate a right curve and crossed into the oncoming, northbound lane of travel, upon exiting the curve. Unit 1 then struck the right front of Unit 2, a 2004 Ford F350 pickup truck, driven by Operator 2, a 34 year old Robesonia man, which was traveling northbound on Richland Rd. Unit 1 came to final rest in a farm field just off of the northbound side of the roadway. Unit 1 sustained significant disabling damage to the front end. Unit 2 sustained disabling damage to the right front end. Operator 1 was wearing his motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash. Operator 1 was transported to Reading Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Operator 2 was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 2 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed from the scene. PSP Jonestown was assisted on scene by First Aid and Safety Patrol, Newmanstown Fire Company, Neptune Fire Company, and Fire Police.

North Lebanon Township

Retail Theft – Brandi Jones, a 27 year old Reading resident, was charged with Retail Theft and False Identification to Law Enforcement after an incident that occurred on Sept. 5, 2021 at the Lebanon Wal-Mart. She was apprehended after failing to pay for $1,209 worth of merchandise.

North Londonderry Township

DUI – James Barlow, a 34 year old Lebanon resident, was charged with Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance in connection with an incident that occurred on July 31, 2021 at 2:48 p.m. on Sportsman Rd. Laboratory reports showed Barlow had two controlled substances – methamphetamine and amphetamine – in his body while he was operating the vehicle.

Disorderly Conduct – On Sept. 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., the students were charged with Disorderly Conduct for a physical altercation at the Palmyra High School. The Arrestees included a 16 year old Palmyra male, a 15 year old Palmyra male, and a 16 year old Palmyra male.

Swatara Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 13, 2021 at 3:16 p.m., this two-vehicle crash occurred on SR 22 at its intersection with North Lancaster St. in Swatara Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 2, a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by Operator 2, a 51 year old Grantville man, was traveling westbound on SR 22, west of its intersection with North Lancaster St. Unit 1, a 2017 Ford Expedition, driven by Operator 1, a 64 year old Jonestown woman, accompanied by Passenger 1, an 11 year old Palmyra male, was in the left turn lane on SR 22 Eastbound. Unit 1 turned left from SR 22 Eastbound towards North Lancaster St. without proper clearance and was struck by Unit 2 in the righthand lane of SR 22 Westbound. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were disabled as a result of this crash and were towed from the scene. Operator 1, Passenger 1, and Operator 2 were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Operator 1 and Passenger 1 sustained possible injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 2 sustained suspected minor injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Vehicle Turning Left.

Union Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 14, 2021 at 2:01 p.m., this two-vehicle crash occurred on I 81 South at mile marker 88.2 in Union Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 2, a 2006 Freightliner Columbia, driven by Operator 2, a 60 year old Temple man, was traveling westbound on I 81 South at mile marker 88.2. Unit 2 was traveling in the left merge lane from I 78 West. While traveling in the merge lane, Unit 2 was sideswiped by Unit 1, an unknown make and model, driven by Operator 1, which was traveling in the left lane of I 81 South. Unit 1 then fled the scene, traveling westbound on I 81 South. Unit 2 sustained minor damage as a result of this crash and was able to leave the scene under its own power. Operator 2 was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 2 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash.

West Cornwall Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 11, 2021 at 12:14 p.m., Operator 1, a 67 year old Columbia resident, was traveling north on Pine Ln. when she attempted to turn left onto Oak St. Unit 1 then sideswiped a telephone pole. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Unit 1 sustained minor damage but was drivable.
