For lunch on a Sunday afternoon following a long morning of meal prep and volunteering with the Free Noon Meal at LCCM, we decided to order some quick takeout. (*Shameless plug alert* If you are looking for a great place to volunteer your time or donate some money, please consider Lebanon County Christian Ministries. They are doing phenomenal work every day!)

We decided to stop by the local beer house, Union Beer House, located at Cumberland and 16th streets.

Situated in a single-story commercial property shared with a laundromat, this place offers a wide selection of to-go beer and plenty of beers on tap with their bar food menu and limited seating area.

Our meal today included a Philly cheesesteak hoagie ($8.50), Yuengling battered fish sandwich ($6.95), and French fries ($3.50).

Coming on an Amoroso roll, this sandwich comes with plenty of steak but could use more cheese on board. Our preference with cheesesteaks is to get it hoagie style unless we’re in Philadelphia. Half of this sandwich was more than enough for a lunch serving.

The fish sandwich was a healthy size of cod, with plenty juicy along with tartar sauce. I couldn’t taste the Yuengling beer in the batter but the sandwich itself was good — nothing special, just a good sandwich.

The fries were a nice potato cut, typical of the style you will find around here.

Our take: This place offers a pub food style menu to complement the beers it offers. There wasn’t much flare to the food itself. It hits the spot while pounding back a brew or cider. Our order was called in and ready within 10 minutes! The parking lot can be a little dangerous, given its small size and number of cars within driving around.
