Bethel Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 22, 2021 at 10:58 p.m., this crash occurred on Mt. Zion Rd. in the area of the intersection with Freeport Rd. in Bethel Twp. Mount Zion Rd., in the area of this crash, is a two-lane asphalt highway with one northbound lane and one southbound lane. The travel lanes are divided by solid double yellow lines. The shoulders are narrow and not usable. The posted speed limit is 35 MPH. Unit 1, a 2012 Hyundai Accent, driven by Operator 1, a 70 year old Lebanon man, was traveling north on Mt. Zion Rd. Unit 1 failed to properly negotiate a right curve in the roadway. Unit 1 crossed the southbound lane of travel, drove off of the paved portion of the left side of the road, entered the front yard of the property located on the 600 block of Freeport Rd., struck a white picket fence, and then struck Unit 2, a 2005 Dodge Caravan, which was parked unoccupied in the driveway of the property located on the 600 block of Freeport Rd. Unit 1 came to final rest, facing northwest with its left front corner against Unit 2’s right front corner. Unit 1 sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Operator 1 was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 1 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.

Cornwall Borough

Deer Struck – Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 42 year old Lebanon resident, struck a deer on Sept. 25, 2021 at 5:35 a.m. on SR 72 South, just south of SR 117. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. Unit 1 sustained front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 24, 2021 at 4:32 p.m., this crash occurred on SR 322 West, just after Colebrook Rd. Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 26 year old Elizabethtown resident, was traveling west on SR 322, when he struck the back-end of Unit 2, driven by Operator 2, a 52 year old Bainbridge resident, which then struck the back-end of Unit 3, driven by Operator 3, a 21 year old Lebanon resident. Unit 1 was towed from the scene.

East Hanover Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 26, 2021 at 5:55 p.m., this crash occurred on I 81 South at mile marker 84.2 in East Hanover Twp. This crash occurred as both Unit 1, an unknown make and model, driven by Operator 1, and Unit 2, a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Operator 2, a 54 year old Palmyra man, were traveling south in the right lane of I 81 South. Unit 1 was following Unit 2 too closely and subsequently struck the rear-end of Unit 2. After striking Unit 2, Unit 1 fled the scene south on I 81 South. After being struck by Unit 1, Unit 2 traversed across the right shoulder of I 81 South, before coming to final rest against the guide rail, facing south. Unit 1 sustained unknown damage as a result of this crash. It is unknown whether Operator 1 was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash. Any injuries sustained by Operator 1 are unknown. Unit 2 sustained mild driver’s rear-end damage at the 7 o’clock position and mild front-end passenger’s side damage at the 1 o’clock position as a result of this crash. Unit 2 was able to be driven from the scene in its normal customary manner. Operator 2 was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 2 sustained suspected minor injuries as a result of this crash.

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 1, 2021 at 9:52 a.m., this crash occurred on I 81 North at mile marker 86.7 in East Hanover Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2000 Peterbilt 567, driven by Operator 1, a 32 year old Trinity, TX man, Unit 2, a 2021 Freightliner M2, driven by Operator 2, a 30 year old Richmond, VA man, and Unit 3, a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by Operator 3, a 25 year old Sonora, KY man, were traveling north on I 81 North. Unit 3 observed traffic slowing ahead due to heavy rain and pulled to the right shoulder of I 81 North. Unit 2 was following directly behind Unit 3 and also slowed for traffic ahead, when it was struck from behind by Unit 1. Unit 2 was subsequently pushed into the trailing portion of Unit 3, before coming to final rest beyond the right shoulder of I 81 North, facing east. After striking Unit 2, Unit 1 continued onto the right shoulder of I 81 North, before coming to final rest, facing north. Unit 3 remained on the right shoulder of I 81 North, facing north. Unit 1 was observed to have sustained heavy and disabling damage to its entire front-end at the 11 o’clock position as a result of this crash and was towed from the scene by Motter’s Towing. Unit 2 sustained heavy and disabling rear-end damage at the 7 o’clock position as a result of this crash. Unit 2 further sustained disabling damage to its front-end at the 1 o’clock position as a result of this crash. Unit 2 was also towed from the scene by Motter’s Towing. Unit 3 and its trailing portion sustained mild damage at the 9 o’clock position and was able to be driven from the scene in its normal customary manner. Operator 1, Operator 2, and Operator 3 were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Operator 1, Operator 2, and Operator 3 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Following Too Closely.

Jackson Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 25, 2021 at 2:21 p.m., this reportable one-vehicle crash occurred on East Lincoln Ave. at its intersection with Dutchway Dr. in Jackson Twp. Unit 1, a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, driven by Operator 1, an 82 year old Womelsdorf woman, was traveling east in the lefthand turning lane of East Lincoln Ave. Unit 1 turned north onto Dutchway Dr. traversed off of the right shoulder of the roadway and struck a concrete light post. Initial impact occurred as the front bumper of Unit 1 struck the light post. Unit 1 came to final rest in the center of the roadway, facing north. Unit 1 was disabled from the crash and was towed from the scene by Gilles R. Miller Towing. Operator 1 was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 1 suffered suspected minor facial injuries as a result of the crash and was transported via Myerstown First Aid Unit to Reading Hospital. Operator 1 was cited for Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic.

South Londonderry Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 23, 2021 at 5:28 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred at the T intersection of South Forge Rd. and Coachman Ln. in Palmyra when Unit 1, driven by Operator 1, a 47 year old Palmyra resident, was traveling south on South Forge Rd. and struck the rear of Unit 2, driven by Operator 2, a 60 year old Palmyra resident, who was stopped and preparing to turn onto Coachman Ln. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash on scene. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed from the scene. Operator 1 was cited for Following Too Closely.

Stalking, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Criminal Trespass – On Aug. 24, 2021 at 10:34 a.m., a Palmyra resident, is charged with Stalking, Simple Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Criminal Trespass, and Harassment after he allegedly attempted to strike an employee of Brass Rail Beverage with his vehicle. This incident occurred on the 2,800 block of Horseshoe Pike in Palmyra.

Bad Checks – On May 10, 2021, a 45 year old Harrisburg resident, is charged with issuing three bad checks to Maguire’s Ford for the payment of a vehicle. The checks totaled over $14,000. The resident failed to make good on the checks.

Swatara Township

Theft – Sometime between Sept. 25, 2021 at approximately 10:00 p.m. and Sept. 26, 2021 at approximately 10:00 a.m., State Police responded to Swatara Cir. in Swatara Twp. for a report of theft. Through investigation, it was determined that an unknown Actor(s) entered the yard of the residence sometime between the above-listed dates and times. The unknown Actor(s) proceeded to remove two Pelican kayaks, before fleeing the scene by unknown means in an unknown direction of travel. Anybody with information relating to this incident is asked to contact PSP Jonestown and reference incident number PA2021-1309186. The Victim was a 39 year old Jonestown woman. The stolen property included 2 Zep Pelican Kayaks, valued at $500.00 each.

Union Township

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 15, 2021 at 12:37 p.m., this nonreportable hit-and-run crash occurred at Dollar General, located at 507 Jonestown Rd. in Union Twp. Unit 1, an unknown make and model, driven by Operator 1, hit Unit 2, a black 2011 Honda CVR250R motorcycle, while it was legally parked in the parking lot of Dollar General, causing Unit 2 to fall to final rest. Unit 1 left the scene in an unknown direction. Unit 2 sustained minor damage as well as scratches to the handlebar and the front and rear fenders. No injuries were reported as a result of this crash. There were no solvability factors for this crash.

Vehicle Accident – On Sept. 1, 2021 at 12:53 p.m., this crash occurred on SR 72 North, just south of Penny Ln. in Union Twp. This crash occurred as Unit 1, a 2016 Mazda 6, driven by Operator 1, a 60 year old Halifax woman, was traveling north on SR 72 North, following directly behind Unit 2, a 2019 Ram 1500, driven by Operator 2, a 59 year old Coal Twp. man, accompanied by Passenger 1, a 26 year old Shamokin man. Unit 1 was following Unit 2 too closely, and Operator 1 was unable to prevent Unit 1 from striking Unit 2 as Unit 2 slowed for traffic ahead. The front-end of Unit 1 subsequently struck the rear-end of Unit 2. Unit 1 sustained heavy and disabling front-end damage at the 12 o’clock position and was towed from the scene by Joey May’s Towing. Unit 2 sustained mild damage to its rear bumper and exhaust at the 6 o’clock position and was able to be driven from the scene in its normal customary manner. Operator 1 was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Operator 2 and Passenger 1 were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Operator 1, Operator 2, and Passenger 1 did not sustain any injuries as a result of this crash. Operator 1 was cited for Following Too Closely and Restraint Systems.
