The Lebanon County Commission for Women is currently accepting nominees to the 2022 Women’s Hall of Fame.

The goal of the LCCW, according to a statement sent out by commission member Jennifer Pensinger, is “to seek out hidden heroines — women who have used their talents to increase the quality of life in Lebanon County — and hear their stories.”

Nominations will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31. Nomination categories include leadership, community, agriculture, athletics, justice, healthy lifestyles/health care, arts, education, military, and science/technology.

Nominees must live or work in Lebanon County and should excel in one of the categories listed, said Pensinger, who is also executive director of the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition on Quentin Road, Lebanon.

“The Lebanon County Women’s Hall of Fame was established by the Commission for Women in 2010 in an effort to preserve women’s history, and honor the outstanding achievements of unsung heroes in our community,” the commission’s website explains. “Nominations are accepted for individuals who live and/or work in the Lebanon Valley, or have played an integral part in the development and/or implementation of project(s) that have benefited women and girls in the Lebanon Valley.”

The committee is co-chaired by Beverly Heishman, Jody Lazorcik and Ali Perrotto.

A complete list of past inductees to the Hall of Fame is available online.

More information on nominating women, along with application forms in English and Spanish, are available online as well.

“The commission invites everyone to submit nominations for women whom they believe should be recognized and honored for their work or volunteer activities on behalf of our community,” Pensinger said in the release.

The next induction ceremony will be held in March 2022, during Women’s History Month. Details will be announced at a later date.

The Lebanon County Commission for Women was established in 2003, and is an appointed branch of the Lebanon County Commissioners. The commission, the website says, is “dedicated to projects that promote the health, well-being, access, and financial stability of women and girls” in the Lebanon County community.”

Projects include documenting women’s history and educational programs, events and initiatives for women and girls in Lebanon County.
