Lebanon County added another 118 acres of farmland to its stock of preserved agricultural land with the recent purchase of a conservation easement on the David P. and Almira D. Kline farm in Myerstown.
The Kline farm was one of 21 included in this round of the state’s Farmland Preservation Program. According to a release, the state contributed $233,328.95 to the purchase of the easement and the country contributed $67,223.50.
According to the Lebanon County Conservation District, about 19,000 acres of farmland have been preserved in the county, with the Kline farm representing an increase of about 0.5% in total acreage. The average acreage per easement is approximately 111 acres.
The Kline farm, located near Gibble and Cherry Lane roads, is a combination crop and livestock operation.
