Earlier this month, local Verizon retailer TCC, at 41 N. Londonderry Square, donated $1,000 to The Caring Cupboard, located at 131 N. Railroad St. #1, in Palmyra.
The donation was in celebration of TCC’s reopening following interior store remodeling. The local TCC team selected The Caring Cupboard to be the recipient of the funds, according to a press release.
In keeping with the chain’s commitment to support and promote local communities, TCC stores are donating funds to local nonprofits this year every time a store opens, reopens, or moves location.
“At the core of our business is a desire and passion to give back to our communities, and we are excited to celebrate our Palmyra store’s remodel by giving back to an integral nonprofit in its community,” said Scott Moorehead, CEO of Round Room, parent company of TCC, in the press release. “The Caring Cupboard’s work ensures that no one in Palmyra goes hungry, and we are proud to assist them in their work to better the community.”
The Caring Cupboard is food pantry that is based in Lebanon County. It is open five times during the week, and families in the Palmyra and Annville-Cleona school districts can visit once a week to stock up.
The goal of The Caring Cupboard is to provide food for families for three to four days out of the week. The Caring Cupboard offers donated products and nonperishables, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables, chicken, milk, eggs, turkey, and burgers, according to its website.
The Caring Cupboard has become a greater resource than ever in light of the coronavirus pandemic. TCC’s donation helps ensure that the mission of The Caring Cupboard can continue, even in difficult times.
“The COVID pandemic demonstrated how quickly families can become financially unstable and require the help of friends and neighbors,” Shila Ulrich, executive director of The Caring Cupboard, told LebTown. “Seeing nearly 300 families in 2020 who had never before needed to use a food pantry illustrated just how real living paycheck to paycheck is for our community. We are happy to be able to use the funds from TCC to be able to purchase foods for those who use our services.”
