LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

This week’s pet is Frankie, owned by Janel and Jed Reilly.

Frankie is a mastiff mix. Now 1 year and 4 months old, he was adopted in November 2020 from the Pennsylvania SPCA in Lancaster.

He was, Janel explained in an email, one of more than 30 dogs rescued from a local farm where dogs were being bred for fighting. The puppy-mill breeder, she said, “cut the ears of many of the puppies with scissors.”

After his timely rescue, Frankie was lucky enough to find a new home with the Reillys. His personality hasn’t suffered from his harsh upbringing, Janel said.

“Frankie has a goofy personality,” she said, and is “very loving. … He loves his human siblings and wants to play with his 3 feline sisters but they aren’t always willing to play because of his size.”

“He is always happy,” she adds, “and when he sees a person he has to pick up something to show off.” Sometimes, Janel says, that means cramming as many toys in his mouth as he can hold!

If his pictures are any indication, Frankie has certainly found a home where he can relax. If you see him, be sure to say hello … and then count how many toys he is holding!
