The first charges have been filed over the Oct. 27 shooting/crash which led to the death of a 16-year-old Lebanon male.
Lebanon police announced Monday, Nov. 1, that Jaedyn Gaines, a 17-year-old Lebanon resident, has been charged with homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide, both first-degree felonies. (Gaines was 16 years old on the day of the incident.) Currently remanded to Lebanon County Correctional facility and denied bail, Gaines may still face additional charges according to police.
Police said the second suspect’s identity is “forthcoming” and he is currently being sought.
According to the police release, Gaines and the second offender planned to rob the two victims during a planned purchase of marijuana. Police said that Gaines took marijuana from one of the victims, leading to a struggle between the 16-year-old victim and the second offender. Police said that Gaines shot the victim during that struggle, and then proceeded to flee the scene along with the second offender. As reported last week, the 16-year-old victim proceeded to drive south on 6th Street before ultimately succumbing to the gun-shot wound.
A preliminary hearing for Gaines is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 4, at 8 a.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Barbara H. Nixon.
The victim has not yet been identified by police.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
