North Annville Township residents will have to wait a little longer to learn whether a controversial 1,200-acre solar panel farm will be built near Route 934.
A Nov. 23 hearing before township supervisors was postponed at the last minute, and rescheduled for two nights, Jan. 25 and 26, 2022, in the Waterworks Fire Hall.
It is the fourth postponement of the hearing, which was first scheduled for Jun. 24.
Lebanon Solar I, LLC, a Colorado-based subsidiary of Italian multinational energy company Enel S.p.A., wants to erect interconnected banks of solar panels on 12 agricultural-zoned properties and sell the generated power to utility companies.
The company has entered into long-term leases with the properties’ owners.
Township supervisors are being asked to give conditional use zoning approval to the project, which has drawn fire from nearby residents who fear that it would change the rural character of the township and decrease property values.
