Calvary Chapel of Lebanon’s radio broadcast “Old-Fashioned Revival” will return to airwaves later this month.
The event will be broadcasted to Berks, Lancaster, and Lebanon counties on the church radio station, and the video feed will be available online at the church’s website. The radio station for Lebanon County is 93.1 FM.
The series will kick off on Sunday, Dec. 12, and conclude Sunday, Dec. 19. Eight evangelists will be featured. The program runs from 7 to 7:30 p.m.
Church member Mike Sobol suggested the idea of an old-fashioned revival last year to Pastor Thom Keller.
“We initiated a revival last year in June during the 2020 lockdown when churches were not allowed to meet in person,” Sobol said. “In mid- to late April of 2020, I reflected upon and prayed about all the uncertainties facing people including spiritual, safety, economic, mental and physical well-being from being ‘locked down’ in their homes for over a month with no end in sight.
“I knew people were discouraged and worried. I further thought of how people were facing the possibility of losing all they possessed and even their lives to COVID,” he continued. “While praying about all of this, I felt a call from God to offer hope via an Old-Fashioned Revival with a new twist using a virtual modality! Revivals in the past offered hope and security in times of uncertainty! There is a history in America in with the greatest revivals occurring down times of economic despair.”
Calvary Chapel of Lebanon held its first revival from June 21 to June 27, 2020.
This is not the first revival to come to Lebanon. In fact, Sobol said, there is a rich history of revivals in southeastern Pennsylvania, including in Mount Gretna. Some of that history can be found online.
“Our past and present COVID crisis is an example of circumstances that birthed previous revivals in our nation,” Sobol said. “People felt they were living lives with less hope for the future than they normally expected.”
Mark and Melody Gries attend Calvary Chapel in Lebanon, and they were thrilled to use the radio revival to connect with the church community and Scripture last year while confined to their homes.
“After my wife Melody and I listened on the radio to the first of seven teachings from the old-fashioned revival, this week-long series became a do-not-miss part of our evening schedule,” Gries said. “It was amazingly inspiring. We laughed, we cried, and experienced nearly every positive emotion in between.”
This December, the revival radio shows will feature Jeff Wong, with a sermon titled “What is Your Life?”; Bob Clauser speaking on “Questions”; Mark Abrams, whose sermon is called “Mark 5 Themes – Issues of Life”; Kevin Dodds, with a sermon titled “Hear the Voice of Jesus”; Yordanys Olive, speaking on “The Compassion of Jesus”; Mike Sobol, with a sermon called “How Focused are You on Jesus?”, and Marc Weber, speaking on “Going Home to the Promised Land.”
