Demolition of the Gingrich Memorial Pool at Coleman Memorial Park is now underway.
Arthur “Pat” Aungst Inc. of Pine Grove was awarded the contract in early November with a bid of $135,000, with other bids running to $400,000 or more. The next closest bid was Ritter & Paratore Contracting, Inc with a bid of $146,897.00.

According to the terms of the contract, demolition work is to be completed within 120 days of the project being awarded, or March 2, 2022. Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello said that the contractor is tearing down the pool structure and removing all items that will not remain on site so that the City of Lebanon will not have an unsafe structure on its insurance roster to start the new year. Capello said that the bricks and concrete will be crushed and used as fill on site, followed by topsoil and seed.
“After all of the work is completed, the City will have a survey conducted so we gain a better understanding of where exactly the adjacent property line is located, the location of underground utilities, and the area remaining for any future development,” said Capello.
The Gingrich Memorial Pool was constructed in 1939 and was in use for over 70 years before it was closed in 2018.
