Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Welcome to a new segment here at LVFC where we will highlight a quick munchy item you can find in the Valley. Places to find such munchies are roadside produce and baked goods stands, local grocery stores, or anywhere else within the Valley. We love to stop and check them out because you just might find something amazing.

Today we got a chance to stop by the Lebanon County Career & Technology Center Pastry Shoppe. We knew they taught the pastry arts, there but what we didn’t know is they have a pastry shop.

Open Wednesday – Friday 10:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., this shop is located within the LCCTC building. To access, you can go to the main door of the school, there is a sign for the Pastry Shoppe there. After a quick visit in the office, you sign in, get a visitor badge and head over to the pastry shop. It is always best to call into the school office to see if they are open that week.

The shop offers many different treats including whoopie pies, cookies, cakes, cream puffs, and soft pretzels. The prices are below average so you could stock up on treats. The toal cost of our four treats was $5.75.

Today we got a Tandy cake, layer cake, ultimate peanut butter cookie, and cream puff. The cakes and puffs came in nice individual containers. The cookie was separately wrapped. These rich delights were strong on presentation and even stronger on taste. The Tandy cake and cookie were gotten for my in-laws. I didn’t taste them but they each texted me saying how great they were.

The cream puff was a flaky pastry and sweet cream center. It was different with the pink glaze on top, a nice touch. The layered cake was a chocolate covered multi-colored cake with icing swirl on top. It was not a big slice, but you wanted to make it last because each bite delectably sweet.

Our take: The students at LCCTC are learning the pastry arts. You wouldn’t know they were students if you tasted their treats. These luscious items taste amazing, and it is worth a stop to try them out. If I could, I would have bought one of everything there. The cost of the items is very affordable. I know we’ll be going back!

We give this place ?????.
