On Saturday, March 26, the Moravian Church of Lebanon is planning to celebrate Moravian Heritage Day and the 275th anniversary of the church’s founding.
The church, at 1115 Birch Road just southeast of Lebanon, will open its doors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for several hours of history focused on Moravian customs and traditions. The lunch counter will be open and selling Moravian cakes, peanut butter balls, and Moravian stars.
The Moravian Church is a Protestant denomination originating in central Europe, and has acquired a number of distinct customs since its creation in the 15th century.
According to the church’s Facebook page, the Saturday anniversary will offer the opportunity to learn about Christmas and Easter customs, early Moravian dress, and church traditions including the Lovefeast, brass choir, and reading of daily texts.
