PennLive has reported that former Lebanon City police chief and Lebanon County Detective Daniel Wright will become Middletown’s interim police chief starting April 4.
Wright will head the Dauphin County borough’s 10-officer force and receive a $112,000 annual salary.
He replaces Middletown public safety director William Baldwin, who was recently fired after being charged with driving into a tree while under the influence of alcohol.
Reached for comment on March 28, Wright confirmed that his appointment was interim, but would not say whether he would seek the position on a permanent basis.
Wright was Lebanon City’s police chief from 2009 to 2016 and headed the Lebanon County Detective’s department, the investigative arm of the District Attorney’s office, between April 2016 and April 2021.
Since leaving the county detective’s office last April, he has helped his wife, Nanette, who owns the Downtown Lounge, a popular Lebanon tavern.
