Editor’s Note: In 2021, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Now today is not our usual munchie item, but it could lead to you wanting some munchies. I went out and got some of the newest craft beer in the Valley. Lebanon Valley Craft Brewery recently began brewing on the city’s northside. The beer sells as six-packs at some local distributors. Some might be found on tap at some local bars as well.

Today I got two six packs, the Hop-Zing ($17.39) and the Dead Man’s Dollar ($13.99). The Hop-Zing is a New England style IPA. As an NEIPA, it is supposed to be hoppy up front with strong tropical fruit flavors. While it could be a hazier, the pineapple and mango stand out on the front side while smooth bitterness at end make for a delicious drink. Typically for me with IPAs, my first serving sets the tone. The second serving brings forth that great taste.

The Dead Man’s Dollar, the brewery’s most popular so far, is a Dortmund style lager, a German lager that is higher on alcohol (5.5% ABV). To me it tasted like it was made with Vienna malt, but I could be wrong. Its smooth flavor shines through and makes for a crisp beverage after a long workday.

I for one will be giving their other brews a taste. What’s the saying? #drinklocal
