Isaac’s Craft Kitchen & Brewery opened up earlier this month in North Cornwall Commons, the company’s first location in Lebanon County and its second outfitted for on-site brewing.

Over the weekend, Isaac’s conducted some test brews while it awaited final clearance from the PLCB, which could come as early as this week.
When LebTown stopped by the new location at 119 Springwood Drive on Friday, Isaac’s CEO Mike Weaver was on-site checking out the seven-barrel brewing system and brewer Alex Painter was working with a consultant to run the system through mock brewing exercise to test how hot the tanks could get, and how long it takes to get them up to temperature.
Weaver said that the expansion into craft beer came as he and others in the company thought about what strategy would best serve younger generations, and help build a dinner business. Weaver pointed to a few Isaac’s recipes as being his personal favorites: Uncle Johnny’s Porter, the Stronger Together Red IPA, and the Birdseed Blonde, the last of which happens to also be gluten-free.

If things go as planned, Isaac’s could be pouring its housemade brews at the new location this weekend.
Painter, who has been with Isaac’s since 2010, was one of several Isaac’s employees who obtained a brewing science certificate from HACC. Painter and his fellow brewer, Brian Buehrle, have developed most of the recipes, along with some additional brews from Isaac’s Business & Market Development director Johnny Roberts, who has moonlighted with Elizabethtown’s Moo-Duck Brewery.
“I’ve been really happy with our darker stuff,” said Painter. In particular, Painter highlighted an imperial stout that’s being brewed in a barrel-aged version. For the foreseeable future, Painter will be doing double-duty between the Lebanon and Lancaster locations.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new location is planned for 11 a.m. on May 25.
Isaac’s is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit the Isaac’s website or call the Lebanon location at (717) 482-5230.
