Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

The time has come once again for our standard Saturday breakfast outing. But this time we headed to the east side of Lebanon. Located along Route 422 in Avon, the Cedar Grill is a diner that serves the standard breakfast dish.

For our meal today we got a short stack with a side of scrapple ($7.95), country sausage gravy over biscuits w/home fries well-done ($9.25), and a scrambled egg and sausage links ($4.95) for our little critic.

The short stack today came with the bottom side hard from the griddle. The flavor of pancake here is better than most places. The scrapple was pan fried to a crispy exterior.

The country sausage gravy is rather sweet. But for this dish, it worked well for me. Though I needed to add quite a bit of pepper to get it to my liking. Kudos on the well-done home fries, just how I like them.

Our little critic had no complaints with her dish. She really enjoyed the sausage links with her meal.

Our take: The Cedar Grill is a diner that will give you the classic breakfast fare. They have quite a few options between omelets, benedicts, and griddle plates on the breakfast side. The portions are fair. Not always the cleanliest place. The staff is friendly and even when short staffed, they take good care of you.

We give this place ???.
