The 5th annual Tower to Town 10-mile run returns to Clarence Schock Memorial Park Nature Center, commonly known as Governor Dick Park, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
Proceeds will again benefit the construction of the John E. Wengert Memorial Park on West Chestnut Street, a vital link in the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail, plus the Lebanon Valley Conservancy and the Community Health Council of Lebanon Valley.
The course can be run solo, or as part of a relay team. The race will be held rain or shine.
The race ends at Optimist Park in Lebanon. Runners can catch pre-race shuttle buses from the finish line to Governor Dick Park for the start of the race. Three shuttle runs will be held, starting at 8:00 a.m. Register early to guarantee your bus seat.
The first three and a half miles feature hills and a run up to the Governor Dick fire tower on forested trails. Expect some rocks and maybe a little mud. The course is mostly downhill or flat after that, with six miles on the LVRT. You can view the virtual route here.
Solo registration is $40 per person on or before Sept. 11, and $50 per person after that, including on race day. Relay teams will pay $30 and $40 per person on the same schedule.
Race day registration will be 8 to 9 a.m. at Schock Park.
And, there will be swag for early registrants. According to race sponsors, entries include a something special if made by the Sept. 11 cutoff date.
