Lebanon native and Paralympic gold medalist Ryan Neiswender will again represent the United States at the highest level of wheelchair basketball.
On Saturday, Neiswender was named to the 2022 Toyota Team USA Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team for the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships. The tournament will be held Nov. 16 to 27 in Dubai.
Neiswender and other players to make the cut showed their stuff at a selection camp held Aug. 11 to 13 at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
“This camp was an unprecedented experience for our athletes and staff as we completed our second selection camp announcing a final roster in one year,” said head coach Robb Taylor in a press release. “From athletes new to the pool to those having just returned with a gold medal from the Americas Cup, it was great to see the devotion and energy put forth by all the athletes in attendance at camp.”
Sixteen men’s teams and twelve women’s teams will compete in the championship event. The U.S. Men’s National Team earned their spot with a gold-medal victory at the Americas Cup in Brazil.
