“The race is a great opportunity for us to showcase some of the beautiful recreational areas in Lebanon County, including Mount Gretna and the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail,” said Nicole Maurer, executive director of the Community Health Council of Lebanon County and race director for Tower to Town, in a press release.
“Thanks to the county’s hotel tax grant, we were able to market the event to surrounding areas and draw in a diverse group of racers.”
The funds will go in part towards construction of the John E. Wengert Memorial Park, which is slated to begin construction later this year, according to a press release about the race.
“The construction phase of the park is getting closer,” said Kara Lubold, executive director for The Lebanon Valley Conservancy.
“Wengert Memorial Park’s gardens, playgrounds and bike paths will be a wonderful resource for the community to enjoy the outdoors and nature.”
According to the press release, the first phase of the park will feature a bike traffic garden, park signage, a parking area, pavilions, fitness stations, and improvements to the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail trailhead.
