Target’s first Lebanon County store, at 1745 Quentin Road, held its grand opening on Sunday, Nov. 6, although there weren’t a ton of festivities.
Shoppers, however, seemed to be out and enjoying the experience.
The store is now open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
LebTown took a walk around the store to see if it was outfitted with anything different than you might see in the other 2,000 some Target stores across the country. (Spoiler alert: It wasn’t.)
Target estimates it will create 200 new jobs to staff the 117,000-square-foot store. Jobs are still posted online for the store including cashier, stocking, and management positions.
The interior of the Target store is exactly what you’d expect. “Help Center” kiosks offering price lookup and waste receptacles are scattered throughout the store.
Towards the back-left of the store, Target has a full Christmas lineup on display, including a number of artificial trees.
Probably the most different aspect of Lebanon’s Target compared to the chain’s other stores in the region is its customer service area. On the side of the store which formerly housed the Kmart Garden Center is a separate, much smaller checkout area (with self-scan checkout only) as well as the exchanges and returns desk. The entrance opens up to a market display with grab-and-go items.
Also available at this corner of the store are Target’s drive up and pick up services. The store additionally offers same-day delivery through Shipt.
As for local reactions, LebTown readers on Facebook were generally positive about their initial shopping experiences at the new Target.
“The store is big and beautiful,” said one reader.
“You wouldn’t know it’s the old, run-down Kmart,” said another.
“This store now stands as a beacon of hope for our community,” said a third.
Point taken – although the arrival of Target in Lebanon County has been met with plenty of fanfare since LebTown first shared the news in July 2021, this likely does mark the end of the story for LebTown’s purposes. Unless of course, something newsworthy happens – like someone spending a night in the store for a YouTube stunt.
