LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

The Pet of the Week sometimes features a local furbaby who already lives in a happy Lebanon County home. Other times the column will spotlight an animal that’s available for adoption through a local shelter and is seeking a forever family.

This week, meet adoptable Puma!

Puma

Puma is a pit bull terrier who just turned 2 years old in December.

“He has the most adorable markings,” said Danielle, a kennel technician at the Humane Society of Lebanon County and Puma’s buddy at the shelter.

“He found his way to the HSLC as a stray, and was later surrendered due to the dogs in the home not getting along,” Danielle explains. Unfortunately, she says, “Puma is a sweet boy that is stressed/nervous in the shelter environment. He would thrive best in a home as that is what he was used to previously. The shelter is loud and scary after living in a home for all his life.”

On the other hand, Danielle says, Puma “is very treat motivated and knows ‘sit’ and ‘give paw’ on command. He enjoys spending time with staff and volunteers snuggling. He enjoys going to play in the yard. You can frequently spot him running around and playing with toys.

“He would do well with older children,” she adds. However, “Puma would thrive best in a home without other dogs due to his past experiences with other dogs. Please help us find Puma his new beginning for 2023!”

An adoption application and more information is available at lebanonhumane.org or by calling the Humane Society at 717-628-1369.
