Lebanon city police announced Friday that a 30-year-old Lebanon man was fatally shot in the city on Thursday, March 9.
Police identified the victim as 30-year-old Jean Ortiz-Rivera.
According to the police release, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lehman Street shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday. Police said that upon arrival they discovered Ortiz-Rivera with gunshot wounds. Ortiz-Rivera was taken to a medical facility in Dauphin County, police said, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Police said that an autopsy is scheduled for March 11 in Lehigh County.
Police said that a preliminary investigation was able to quickly identify a suspect thanks to the help of witnesses and surveillance footage. According to the police release, early indications are that the shooting was the result of a “long and ongoing argument between both parties.”
Lebanon police said that a suspect, 31-year-old Juan Delgado-Rodriguez of Lebanon, was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police during the early morning of March 10 without incident. Delgado-Rodriguez is being held in custody in Schuylkill County, according to the release.
Court documents show that Delgado-Rodriguez faces charges of criminal homicide, possession of firearm prohibited, and firearms not to be carried without a license.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and any witnesses or persons with other information should contact the department at 717-272-6611 or CrimeStoppers at 717-270-9800.
