LebTown features a different Lebanon County pet each Friday to help us enter the weekend with the best vibes possible.

This week, meet Gunnison N.P. McAteer!

Gunnison

Gunnison, or “Gunny” for short, is a 7-month-old fox red Labrador retriever who was “born and raised right here in Lebanon County,” says owner Robert McAteer.

He was named after Robert’s favorite national park, he explains — namely Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, a steep-walled gorge in western Colorado. “Gunny is also appropriate because his older brother is a gunner’s mate in the United States Coast Guard,” Robert adds.

“Gunny like all Labs is full of energy and loves to play,” he says. “He loves his tennis balls and enjoys a spirited game of tug-of-war. He’s a big fan of peanut butter and is always ready to greet any visitor. At night he enjoys the peaceful solitude of his crate. He’s eager to join his family camping this summer when it warms up a bit.”
