Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Welcome to the first season of the Lebanon Valley Food Critics’ highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Burger Wars. Four entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Burger in The Valley.

Our judgement will be based upon several factors including presentation and composition of the burger, messiness, and overall impression. To keep things even, we will only judge one burger from each restaurant and all burgers will be cooked to the same temperature, medium.

We begin in the southern portion of the Valley at a place which was our second-ever review, Boyer’s Tavern, located in the quiet village of Rexmont.

Since it was a lovely evening, weather wise, we were able to enjoy our burgers on the patio. The menu has six burger choices and the specials menu had one additional option, the surf & turf burger.

Our selection for judgement this evening was the Texas burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and onion rings. Our burger came out on a brioche bun with a little drizzle of BBQ sauce. The patty itself was bland. The flavor came from the toppings. This burger, with its toppings, can be big but the burger stayed together as we ate it and created a minimal mess.

How will this burger stack up against the others? We shall see!

Next up we will travel to our other entrants: Downtown Lounge, Richland Railroad Diner, and Wich Way Sandwiches. After that, we’ll announce our winner.
