Franklin Eli Gerhart, Jr., 88, of Myerstown, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Marilynn (Leininger) Gerhart of 68 years.
Born in Millbach Springs, Lebanon County, on May 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Franklin Eli Gerhart, Sr., and Mabel (Noedker) Gerhart.
He was formerly employed as a bartender and knitter in his early life, then later worked in construction for many years, and retired as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of many clubs and organizations. He also loved playing golf, softball, baseball, and archery. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1952.
He is survived by his five children: Bonnie (Ralph) Bleistein, Rhonda (Mike) Houser, Rodney “Fritz” (Paula) Gerhart, Cindy (Paul) Carter, and Corey (Shela) Gerhart; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister: Leona (Gerhart) Stover; four half-sisters; and two half-brothers.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Lisa, wife of Mike Carter.
A private service will be held later by the family.
