John M. Bell, 74, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at home. Born Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1946, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Albert M. and Anna (Milovich) Bell. He was married 30 years to Barbara (Buckwalter) Bell.

After more than 38 years with Hershey Foods, John retired as a machinist, and also served as a union steward. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member, Past Commander, and Past President of American Legion Post #386 in Hershey. John was an avid golfer and Penn State fan. John loved to cook and bake, but what he loved most was having his family around him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Lorriann Bell, and wife, Amy Ionoff, of Seffner, FL; Scott M. Bell, and partner, Chris Lezzi, of Chesapeake, VA; Amber Neidlinger, and husband, Mark, of Harrisburg, and Patrick Fitzgibbons, and wife, Amy, of Annville; four terrific grandchildren: Dylen, Kaleb, Kylee, and Trent; and eight siblings: Helen L. Fogleman, and husband, the late Sterril; Paul E. Bell, and wife, Janis; Pauline M. Meals, and husband, William; George R. Bell; Georgene R. Whalen, and husband, Lawrence; Betty Sue Meyer, and husband, Steven; Deborah Lou Bell, and Joann M. Taylor, and husband, Joseph.

John was predeceased by a son, Douglas E. Messenger, and siblings, Gloria J. Bixler, Albert M. Bell, Jr., and Mary Ann Sonon.

A viewing will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Service and interment will be private.
