Proud Indiana native and talented camera operator for notable documentaries and TV shows, Matthew Chester Meyer’s love of life did not come to an end with his death. At the age of 38, Matt passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at home in his wife’s arms after a courageous 16-month journey with colon cancer.

Married since 2016 and together for 11 years, he was the loving husband of Tami (Lumbatis) Meyer whom they share their two sons, Rocket (4) and Stone (2).

While residing in Lebanon, PA with his family, Matt was born in Louisville, KY, and the son of Mark and Carole (Prusik) Meyer of Georgetown, Indiana. Matt graduated Phi Betta Kappa with High Distinction from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He pursued his dream to work in television from his first job at WAVE 3 in Louisville to his utmost successful career in Los Angeles, CA as a camera operator and director of photography.

Naturally gifted, Matt was a highly sought-after and successful television camera operator and director of photography. Known for his innate talent for camera movement, Matt was consistently able to “get the shot,” be it as a handheld operator, specialty gimbal operator, jib operator, or drone operator. An expert visual storyteller, his talents extended beyond camera work to lighting, editing, and graphic design. His creative and technical ability mixed with his infectious optimism and calming demeanor made him the perfect addition to any project. He brought beauty and life to everything he put his hand to, generously sharing his wisdom and love of the craft with those around him. He left the industry and the world a better place than when he found it – his legacy living on in his colleagues who fondly remember him proudly proclaiming “we did it!” every time completing a challenging shoot.

Outside of work and spending time with his wife and children, Matt enjoyed playing basketball, cycling, and strength training. He was also a season ticket member and a loyal fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Matt was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra, PA where he and Tami recently held a convalidation ceremony on May 12.

Surviving in addition to his wife, children and parents are his brother Nick Meyer and wife Ashley, nephew Luke (3) and niece Nellie (1); parents-in-law Ralph and Tina Lumbatis; two brothers-in-laws Ryan Lumbatis and wife Laura, nieces Lily (9) and Averie (6), and Scott Lumbatis and wife Andrea; nephew Jordan (6) and niece Kayleigh (11 months).

A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville, PA 17003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10 AM from Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Rev. Anthony Dill as Celebrant.
