The Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that its 2020 ATHENA Award recipient is Judy Williams Henry, owner of Movement Laboratory in Lebanon. Judy has taught and mentored hundreds of children in our community through dance lessons, volunteerism, and community outreach. Movement Laboratory is a dance studio serving Lebanon County for 41 years.

Judy is a classically trained dancer who describes herself as a choreographer, director, actor and mentor. Judy has served as a professional choreographer at Gretna Theatre for 31 years and has been an adjunct member of the faculties of Lebanon Valley and Elizabethtown Colleges. She is a 2014 Lebanon County Commission for Women Hall of Fame inductee.
In a recent LebTown article, Judy stated, “I feel like Movement Laboratory is a resource in the community. That’s important to me. It’s important for me to stay downtown. I believe in Lebanon…”
Judy’s volunteerism has spilled into school districts and performing arts centers and she has sponsored dozens of international and domestic performances and cultural exchanges in places like Russia, Bulgaria, Poland, Italy, France, and more.
Her nominator, Dr. Marianne Bartley (2007 ATHENA Award recipient) said of Judy, “She is an exceptional individual in our community who has impacted many young people and adults over the years. What a gift she has been to the Lebanon Valley!”

The ATHENA Award was launched in 1982 in Lansing, Michigan and was created to recognize individuals who have excelled in their professions, given back to their communities, and helped advance the careers and leadership potential of women in the community. In the Lebanon Valley, the ATHENA Award has been presented each year since 1990 through the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.
