Rutter’s in Annville and Love’s Market in Jonestown have both applied to install video gaming terminals (essentially slot machines) as part of Pennsylvania’s Act 42 rollout, which authorized the mini gambling venues at airports and major truck stops.

As of yesterday, the applications are still in “unauthorized” status. It is not clear how quickly applications are being approved, but with zero application denials by the state so far it seems only a matter of time before the bids are approved.

Yesterday Rutter’s announced that it would be partnering with Penn National Gaming to manage the video gaming terminals at the 20 locations for which it has submitted applications. Love’s Market has applied for four locations. See the full list here.

In December, the Lancaster Newspapers editorial board came out against the legislation, which provided little input to counties as to whether gambling would be allowed (only counties with existing casinos were allowed to opt-out).

Update 8:00am: State Rep. Russ Diamond notes that Love’s has had sinilar machines operating on an unregulated basis previously. “At least the new VGT’s will be regulated and monitored,” he noted on Facebook.
